Therapy for us

Finding a therapist who gets it is hard for our community. Queer and trans folks are underrepresented in this field, and too many of us have had bad experiences with cishet providers. I have too.

It doesn’t have to be that way. I can’t separate my lived experience from my professional background. I’d love to help you on your own journey.

Therapy Offerings

Individual Therapy

One on one sessions are where it all starts - building grounded attachment with ourselves allows us to live thriving, healthy, joyful lives. Gladly accepting youth, teens, and adult clients.

Relationship Therapy

Couples, throuples, polycules - any relationship structures welcome. I love working with folks to support secure and thriving relationships.

Family Therapy

Fostering emotionally connected attachments in families, I will work closely with each member while also supporting your family unit as a whole.

WPATH Letters of Readiness

I offer free‍ letters of readiness for folks, and practice under the WPATH guidelines for assessments. Trans healthcare is proven to be medically necessary and lifesaving care, and shouldn’t be gatekept from any of us. Nova Scotia clients only.

My Approach

I use a generalist approach to leverage strategies from multiple modalities, including elements of:

  • Narrative Therapy

  • Emotionally Focused Therapy

  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy

  • Internal Family Systems Therapy

  • Other models to support my clients’ needs

My Background

Before moving to Atlantic Canada, I spent 15 years working in mental health, public policy and community organizing spaces in Baltimore City.

I don’t believe I can offer effective therapy without also focusing on the systemic roots of minority stress and its impacts on our lives. I practice with a commitment to fostering collective liberation through personal healing.

I earned my Master’s in Social Work from the University of Maryland, Baltimore City, and am working currently on a Master’s in Women and Gender Studies at Saint Mary’s University in Halifax. I have shared my expertise through workshops, panels, and educational sessions across the US on queer and trans health and wellness.

I am currently practicing in-person and virtually in Nova Scotia, and virtually only in Ontario. I acknowledge that I am a white settler living and working on the unceded and ancestral land of the Mi’kmaq people.

Do I need to be queer or trans to see you?
